Refuge is a retreat for 7th through 12th graders focused on discipleship, worship, and fellowship. It takes place at Cat Spring Retreat 40 miles east of Katy just off I-10. There students will engage in worship, hear preaching, and participate in small group Bible Study, not to mention night games, rec, free time, smores by the campfire, and oh yeah, the midnight Sundae Bar!!
During the two night retreat, students are broken down into small groups based on gender and age and are taught by some of the best small group leaders around. These leaders are trusted college age students who come from across Texas to pour encouragement and biblical truth into the lives of our teens.
Leading us in worship this year will be Jonathan Whedbee. Jonathan is the worship leader at the Klein Campus of Spring Baptist Church where he also leads the student choir. I had the privilege of serving with Jonathan at FBC Iowa Park and his heart is as genuine as his worship leading. He will be a blessing to your students.
Speaking this year will be Steven Hill. Steven is the young adults minister at Austin Ridge Bible Church and is a tremendous communicator of God’s word. He is a graduate of Baylor University and Truett Seminary and has served students in churches in Texas and Arkansas. I have known Steven since he was a junior high student and have been blessed to watch him grow into a great leader and teacher of God’s Word.
Refuge weekend costs $50 per student, with a family cap of $100. This is all inclusive: transportation, food, materials and t-shirt. We also ask that students contribute a 2 liter of their favorite drink and a snack to share with the group.
