FSM Weekly Update
Parents! Thanks so much for taking the time to stay up to date on what’s happening at FSM. Please know that if you ever read anything here that you don’t understand or doesn’t make sense feel free to call or email me. I would love to answer any questions or talk over any confusion I may have caused. My goal is that every parent would not only know what we’re doing, but understand our reason why. If you weren’t able to make it to our Parent Partnership meeting several weeks ago, I would love for you to follow this link to an online version of the parent information page we had parents fill out. This information will be extremely helpful in making sure we are involving you in the ministry in the best way possible! Thank you for responding so well to all our new opportunities this Fall- looking forward to our first Passport Sunday- and helping students build strong foundations in the faith.
MIDWEEK! Wednesday, Oct. 9th
CHOCTOBER continues this week with another chocolate themed game and concludes with PUMPKINPALOOSA II on Oct. 30th (see below). If you haven’t heard we have a huge semester-long competition going and each team gets points when their members attend, bring friends and win challenges. Ask your student which team they are on!
Our teaching series: EPIC takes a look at God’s giving of the law- why did he do it, and what power does it have over us today.
Girls Night Out! :: Oct. 11th :: Katy Mills Mall / AMC Theaters :: 6:45PM?
Girls night out to see the christian movie, Grace Unplugged at the mall AMC theaters. Girls will meet at the mall food court, eat a quick dinner then see the movie together. We are tentatively putting the time at 6:45pm because the movie has been starting at 7:50pm during this week, but the movie times for this movie have not been released yet for Friday…
If you haven’t heard about this movie, check out the trailer:
Passport 2 Maturity Sunday :: Oct. 20th :: Noon-6pm :: $5 for taco bar lunch
Passport is a new discipleship opportunity for students. Two Sundays a semester we will set aside 6 hours to teach an intensive study of subjects which are foundational to students knowing and owning their faith.
This semester we will spend Passport Sunday on The Basics: What Baptists Believe. We’ll talk about the doctrines that make us unique as Baptists and members of FBC Katy.
During this Noon to 6pm Sunday we will feed the students lunch, then dive into intensive teaching with some fun breaks along the way. In coming semesters we will spend six hours on the foundational doctrines of Bible study and interpretation, Jesus, discipleship, apologetics, creation, and more. Students will then track their progress through these topics with an actual passport and custom created stamps. Upon completion of the basic course of study students can then move on the graduate level SUMMIT classes.
Please see the events page of the FSM website for more details :: www.fbckaty.com/student
Jumpstreet! :: Sunday, Oct. 27th :: 4pm-6pm :: Katy Mills Mall :: $17
Jumpstreet is a new indoor trampoline park at Katy Mills Mall. We are going to check it out together for a fun Sunday afternoon. Students need to get dropped off and picked up at Jumpstreet which is on the south side of the mall. Please note, if your student participates in the previous weekend’s Passport Discipleship- their jump time is FREE! Just a little incentive to get our Passport Sunday’s kicked off right!
PUMPKINPALOOSA II :: Wednesday, Oct 30th :: 6pm-7:30pm
A night of fun with pumpkins! Luanched, crushed, hidden, eaten, you never know what this great night will entail… except it will include pumpkins, real and otherwise. Mark your calendars now!
